This para educator course is the first in a series of three that will allow a person to become a certified classroom para educator. It is strongly encouraged that participants take Course 1 before Courses 2 and 3.
Participants will develop skills and strategies to enhance communication and examine situations where professionalism, ethical standards, and confidentiality will guide the correct course of
action when working with colleagues, students, parents, and others.
The course will look at stages of development, core curriculum, beliefs, biases and will have an on-line computer component.
Participants will need access to a computer to attend online classes. This course will have an on-line computer component. All participants will need to have email, internet, and computer access to complete this component.
Clinical Experience is required. Performance indicators of this course need to be met with 80% accuracy.
Individuals seeking Para Educator Certification: Para I, II, Ill are required for certification plus Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and a Federal Bureau of Investigation background check for a fee due upon completion of all three courses to the Board of Educational Examiners.
