Participants will reflect on their current practice in relation to 6 common Early Childhood classroom practices, study alternate practices that have been shown to be effective practices in preschools and create an action plan resulting in changed practice and ultimately increased student achievement.
Participants will learn the how and why of (1) using a message board rather than calendar, (2) sharing centers rather than show and tell; (3) meaningful alphabet learning rather than letter of the week, (4) outdoor classrooms rather than playground structures, (5) interesting materials rather than worksheets and (6) guidance rather than discipline.
